Stop the Cap

Dhon has yet to show a slowing of progress in his recovery. Each week he continues to reach new milestones both big and small. What a warrior.

We have been progressing through the decannulation of his trach. In the picture you will see he has a cap on it. He has been working on solely breathing out of his nose and mouth. If he shows success with the cap then we will eventually be able to take the entire trach out. One less thing to worry about, one less risk and one step closer to get Dhon to speaking.

Dhon has also had the opportunity to use eye gaze communication technology. We are excited for the potential of him having his own and being able to communicate that way. He was smiling the entire time using that technology for the first time. Lots more in our future.
